GC contribution and AI Recovery

Last updated: 2026-05-29

In many Mass Mediation cases a General Contractor (GC) is negotiating against a group of claimants. ADR Sentinel tracks the GC's direct contributions per claimant and, from them, computes the AI Recovery — the GC's recovery of Additional Insured defense fees and costs (what the GC nets after paying the plaintiff and covering any shortfall) — so you can see in real time whether a proposed deal works for the GC.

Recording a GC contribution

In the claimant grid, each claimant has a GC Contributing checkbox. Turn it on and enter the amount the GC is putting directly toward that claimant's settlement. Because it's recorded per claimant, a GC contributing different amounts to different claimants is captured accurately rather than as one lump figure — and the AI Recovery below it updates automatically.

AI Recovery

AI Recovery — the GC's Additional Insured recovery of defense fees and costs — is the GC's net position for a claimant, calculated from:

  • the subcontractors' total, minus
  • the GC's offer to the plaintiff (or the accepted demand, once there is one), minus
  • any GC direct contribution.

It's shown prominently for each claimant and color-coded, with a one-line status:

  • GC still owes \$X — the GC would have to cover this much out of its own pocket.
  • Exactly covered — the numbers net to zero.
  • GC surplus \$X — subs and contributions cover more than the GC offered.

If no GC offer has been entered yet, the grid prompts you to enter one in the negotiation thread so the recovery can be calculated.

AI Target

You can set an AI Target — the recovery figure you're steering the GC toward — using the Set / Edit button on the claimant. Once a target is set, the grid compares it against the live AI Recovery and tells you where you stand:

  • ✓ Recovery meets target
  • Recovery is \$X short of target
  • GC upside down — no recovery

This turns the grid into a running scorecard for the GC across the whole group as numbers move.
