Recording a demand

Last updated: 2026-05-29

A demand is the number a party is asking for. It's the mirror image of an offer — recorded the same way, from the demanding party's side of the table.

Record a demand

  1. On the Ledger tab, find the party making the demand and click + Record Demand.
  2. In the Record Demand modal, fill in:
  3. Demand Made To — the party the demand is directed at (required).
  4. Amount ($) — the figure being demanded (required). Click Use Bracket to enter a range instead — see Using brackets.
  5. In Response to Offer (optional) — link this demand to a prior offer it responds to.
  6. Note / Context (optional) and Non-Monetary Terms (optional) — same as on offers.
  7. Click Record Demand.

The demand is added to the ledger and recorded in the Working Log with a timestamp.

Directing a demand at several parties

To aim one demand at more than one party, check Multi-Party Demand and select the additional parties.

Construction cases

In Construction matters, the modal offers a Demand Type:

  • Standard — an ordinary demand on one party.
  • Global — the General Contractor pays a single lump sum covering all parties.
  • Payment + Assignment of Sub Claims — expands a sub-contractor checklist so you can capture which sub-claims are being assigned.

Pick the type that matches what's actually being asked; for most cases Standard is right.
