Creating your first case

Last updated: 2026-05-27

A case in ADR Sentinel holds everything about a single mediation: the parties and their counsel, every offer and demand, blind rounds, settlement structure, your private notes, and the documents you produce for it.

Add the case

In the sidebar header, click + Add Case. You'll be asked for:

  • A case name — how the case will appear in your sidebar. Plain English works (e.g. Diaz v. Northside Construction). You can rename it later.
  • A case type — Construction, Personal Injury, Mass Mediation, Employment, Commercial, etc. The type controls which tabs and recording UI you see. Pick the closest match; if you're unsure, Personal Injury is the most general layout.

Add the parties

A new case is empty until you add parties. In the sidebar, click + Add Party under the new case. For each party enter:

  • Name (party or company name)
  • Role — Plaintiff (red), General Contractor / Defendant (blue), Subcontractor (purple), or others depending on case type. The color follows that party throughout the app.
  • Attorney name and contact info (optional but recommended — the Settlement Summary and Sessions billing report pull from here)
  • Settlement Authority and other private fields if counsel has shared them; these stay hidden behind the Privacy Lock when you screen-share.

Use + Quick Add for fast bulk entry when you have a roster of parties.

Start recording

Once at least two parties exist, click any party in the sidebar to open the Negotiation Ledger. You can:

Everything you record is captured to the Working Log, which means you can always replay or rebuild the case if anything goes wrong.
